Conference room shared with Guy Sella’s lab.

We are based on the Morningside campus of Columbia University, in the Fairchild building, home to the Biological Sciences department. The group typically consists in 8-10 postdocs and graduate students, as well as a couple of undergraduate researchers, and draws on varied expertise, from biophysics to statistics and computer science to genetics. Our lab is contiguous to computational groups run by Guy Sella; we further benefit from close ties with the experimental group of Peter Andolfatto and the larger community of evolutionary geneticists at Columbia.

Prospective graduate students: I am interested in hiring graduate students with a keen interest in evolution and genetics and a strong quantitative background. Most lab members come through the computational track of the Biological Sciences Dept PhD program.

Postdocs: Applicants must have a quantitative or bioinformatics background, as well as a sincere interest in biology. Programming skills are essential. Informal inquiries as well as applications (including a cv, copies of relevant publications and two names of recommenders) should be emailed to mp3284 at columbia.edu.

Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows at Columbia have access to subsidized housing within walking distance of campus.
